Letting you know you are still very much in our thoughts and prayers. In case your phone has been a bit of a hotline, we haven't wanted to add to that, as we can remember how tiring it is, but we want you to know we are still thinking of you all so much. If there is anything you would like us to help you with you only have to say. If you would like us to ring over the weekend or one day next week, then let us know when would suit you.
We got a couple of sympathy cards in the post this morning - one was from our friends Andrea and James. Andrea said 'I can remember meeting Jacky and thinking what a lovely big sister you had'. She was right, of course.
We look forward to hearing from you about your thinking about Jacky's funeral - we guess you are still waiting to hear from the coroner atm.
After the death of both my parents I can remember finding it difficult to put prayers into words despite wanting to pray. I wonder whether this one I wrote for a friend whose brother died in July might be something you could identify with - if not just ignore it!!
God of the coming week,
As I think of all I have to face
there are so many things I can’t get my head around,
so many things I no longer have a heart for,
so many things, once so important,
that now seem trivial and insignificant.
I ask you to strengthen me in my weariness,
to give me courage to tackle the things I feel I cannot face,
to comfort me when everything becomes too much.
For you are the God who is near to the broken-hearted.
You are the One who saves those who are crushed in spirit.
You are the Lord who answers when we call.
May you know God's comfort and peace.
